Commissioners honors students from Hunterdon County Vocational School FFA Chapters for big win at national conference
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ — Several students from the Hunterdon County Vocational School FFA Chapters (ESEA and Polytech Animal Science) were recently honored by the County Commissioners.
The students were recognized for their outstanding achievements at the National FFA Convention, which was held in Indianapolis, Indiana. Students who participated in the competition were from the following teams: ESEA Nursery Landscape, Animal Science Livestock Evaluation, and ESEA Farm and Agribusiness Management.
Commissioner Zach Rich, liaison to the Hunterdon County Vocational Schools, said, “On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to congratulate all the students and vocational school staff for their outstanding performance at the recent National FFA Convention. The accomplishments of these students are truly remarkable, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. This Board has always had a strong partnership with the Hunterdon County Vocational School District and believes that a strong vocational educational program is instrumental to the generational growth of tomorrow’s agricultural leaders here in Hunterdon County.”
The honored students demonstrated exceptional performance in various categories at the convention, showcasing their skills and knowledge in animal science, agribusiness, and leadership. Their achievements reflect the high standards of education and training provided by the Hunterdon County Vocational Schools.
The following awards were presented to members of the Hunterdon County Vocational FFA Chapters:
- The ESEA Farm and Agribusiness Management Team was ranked GOLD overall and 12th in the nation. The following students were ranked individually: Benjamin Huebscher and Meredith Whitlock for GOLD; and Emmett Kenney and Ned Scannell for Silver.
- The ESEA Nursery Landscape Team received a Bronze Award overall, and individual accolades were awarded to Nina Weiland for Silver; and Alexandra Porambo, Rowdy Meys, and Alysia Garcia for Bronze.
- The Animal Science Livestock Evaluation Team ranked Bronze overall, with individual placements by Cassidy Hunt and Abigail Matlosz for Silver; and Lydia Kilinski, Tatiana Bulluck, Sadie Forsyth, and Dakota Meys for Bronze.
