NJ Transit resumes service Tuesday with holiday rail schedule, some lines suspended

NEW JERSEY — NJ Transit rail, bus and Access Link service resumed Tuesday morning following the winter storm, with most rail lines operating on a Presidents’ Day holiday schedule and some adjustments still in place.

NJ Transit announced late Monday that rail service — except for the Atlantic City Rail Line — would operate on a Presidents’ Day schedule Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Midtown Direct service on the Morristown Line, Montclair-Boonton Line and Gladstone Branch is diverted to Hoboken. Cross-honoring is in effect in Hoboken with PATH service to 33rd Street, NY Waterway ferry service to Midtown/West 39th Street and NJ Transit’s No. 126 bus as part of Portal Cutover adjustments.

The Pascack Valley Line and Main-Bergen and Port Jervis lines are operating on a Presidents’ Day schedule.

The Atlantic City Rail Line is operating on a regular weekday schedule.

On the Northeast Corridor, trains are operating between Trenton and Metropark, then running express to Newark Penn Station for travel to Secaucus and Penn Station New York. Trains are not making local stops between Metropark and Newark due to ongoing Amtrak work to clear snow from track switches.

Service remains suspended on the North Jersey Coast Line and the Raritan Valley Line. NJ Transit said the resumption of service on those lines, as well as the return of local stops on the Northeast Corridor, is contingent on Amtrak completing its snow removal work.

Bus, light rail and Access Link services began operating on a regular weekday schedule Tuesday morning. However, NJ Transit warned customers to expect possible delays, detours or cancellations depending on roadway conditions.

NJ Transit’s Emergency Operations Center remains open, with personnel monitoring conditions and responding to impacts across the system.
