Man shoplifts from Morris County Walmart, returns in attempt to steal again

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) — A man has been charged after allegedly shoplifting from a Morris County Walmart and then returning in an attempt to steal again.

On Oct. 13, at 3:49 p.m., an officer responded to a report of shoplifting at Walmart on International Drive South. Upon arrival, the officer was directed to the loss prevention, where he made contact with the suspect, identified as Lamar T. Sutton, 34, of Budd Lake.

Loss prevention informed the officer that Sutton had collected merchandise and left the store without paying. Shortly thereafter, he reentered the store and attempted to leave with additional items but was stopped by loss prevention, police said.

The total value of the stolen merchandise amounted to $309.26. Sutton was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He has since been released pending a court appearance, police said.
