Two arrested on drug charges following traffic stop in Morris County
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) — Two individuals face drug charges following a traffic stop on Monday evening in Mount Olive Township.
On Oct. 14, at around 5:57 p.m., an officer was on routine patrol when he noticed a Subaru Legacy with a damaged windshield. The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of Bartley Square, police said.
Upon contacting the driver, identified as Laryssa Rodrigues, 26, of Long Branch and the passenger, Nicholas Falone, 38, of Haledon, the officer observed Falone making furtive movements as the officer approached the vehicle, police said.
After exiting the Subaru, a glass pipe was seen in the passenger area. A subsequent check revealed that both Rodrigues and Falone had active warrants for their arrest from multiple police agencies. They were both taken into custody, police said.
A search of the vehicle uncovered multiple glassine folds containing suspected heroin residue, a Ziplock baggie with suspected heroin, a glass pipe with suspected burnt heroin residue, a digital scale, and other drug paraphernalia, police said.
Rodrigues and Falone have been charged with possession of heroin, possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) in schedules I-IV, and possession of paraphernalia. Both were lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility, pending a court appearance, police said.
