St. Luke’s launches Veterans Health Care Navigation Line to improve access to care

St. Luke’s University Health Network has launched a Veterans Health Care Navigation Line to help veterans and their families more easily access healthcare services and navigate the healthcare system.

The new service, which began this month, provides veterans with a dedicated point of contact for assistance with insurance questions, referrals, scheduling appointments and accessing benefits. Veterans can reach the navigation line by calling 484-526-VETS (8387).

The navigation line is part of a broader initiative by St. Luke’s to provide more coordinated, accessible and veteran-centered care throughout the health network.

“Veterans deserve access to high-quality, coordinated care, and our goal is to make that experience as seamless as possible,” said Chad Brisendine, chief information officer and chair of St. Luke’s Veterans Services Committee. “The Veterans Health Care Navigation Line connects veterans directly with knowledgeable team members who understand their unique needs and are dedicated to guiding them every step of the way.”

In addition to the navigation line, St. Luke’s is seeking feedback from veterans to better understand their healthcare needs, introducing specialized hospital bracelets to identify veteran patients and offering veteran-focused events, including a Veterans Hike held June 13.

Health network officials said the initiative is intended to ensure veterans receive care from providers familiar with the physical, emotional and transitional challenges associated with military service.

St. Luke’s offers a range of services for veterans and military families, including primary care, specialty care, mental health services and wellness programs. The network also works with TRICARE, the VA Community Care Network and other military healthcare programs to coordinate services.

According to St. Luke’s, the Veterans Health Care Navigation Line is designed to provide personalized assistance so veterans can more easily access healthcare and related resources throughout the network.
