No injuries after fiery crash involving dump truck and SUV on I-80 in Essex county

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Essex County) — No injuries were reported after a fiery crash involving a dump truck and an SUV on Interstate 80 in Fairfield Township early Saturday morning, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash occurred around 12:38 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 48.6, Lebron said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Volvo dump truck collided with a Ford Escape, causing both vehicles to become engulfed in flames, Lebron said.

No injuries were reported, Lebron added.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further information was available, Lebron said.
