One dead in two-vehicle crash in Somerset County

UPDATE: Woman killed in wrong-way crash in Somerset County; investigation ongoing

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — A 51-year-old Somerset resident died Sunday morning following a two-vehicle crash on Easton Avenue near Cedar Grove Lane, authorities said.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald and Franklin Township Acting Public Safety Director Lloyd Fredericks, township police received a 9-1-1 call at about 7:43 a.m. reporting the collision.

Police said the crash involved a 2019 white Honda Civic and a 2023 gray Toyota Tundra. The driver and sole occupant of the Honda Civic was taken to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The driver of the Toyota Tundra, a 37-year-old Piscataway resident, was not injured.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
