Pa. man sentenced to five years in prison on Phillipsburg gun charge

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — A Pennsylvania man was sentenced to five years in state prison after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm despite being prohibited from doing so, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Lamarr V. Duncan, 27, of Easton, was sentenced Sept. 15 in Warren County Superior Court by Judge H. Matthew Curry. Duncan pleaded guilty on July 22 to second-degree certain persons not to have weapons.

Under state statute, Duncan must serve the full five-year prison sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Authorities said the charge stems from a June 22, 2024 incident when Phillipsburg police responded to reports of a man with a firearm. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop near Union Square, where they recovered a loaded 9mm handgun. After an investigation, Duncan was charged with firearm offenses.

The case was investigated by the Phillipsburg Police Department.
