Pedestrian seriously injured in Sussex County crash

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — A pedestrian was seriously injured Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on Water Street in Newton, police said.

Police responded at about 8:10 p.m. April 10 to Water Street near East Clinton Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

Officers rendered life-saving aid at the scene before the victim was transported to an area trauma center, according to police.

A portion of Water Street was temporarily closed while emergency crews responded and the scene was investigated.

The incident remains under investigation by the Newton Police Department in conjunction with the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office. No further information was released.
