Hackettstown honors state champion high school cheer team with proclamation

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — The Hackettstown High School Traditional Competition Cheer Team was recognized Thursday night by Mayor Jerry DiMaio and the Town Council for its accomplishments during the 2025-26 season.

DiMaio read a proclamation during the Town Council meeting honoring the team for its performance at the NJCDCA Cheerleading State Championship and for its contributions to school spirit and the community.

According to the proclamation, the team represented Hackettstown at the state championship on March 8 and earned a victory over Group 4 Phillipsburg High School.

The proclamation cited the team’s dedication, teamwork, perseverance and school spirit, while also recognizing its role supporting Hackettstown High School athletic events and community activities throughout the year.

Town officials noted that team members regularly participate in football games, boys and girls basketball games, wrestling matches, school activities and community events, including parades, Oktoberfest, National Night Out and the town’s New Year’s Eve celebration.

The proclamation also recognized the contributions of the athletes’ coaches, families, school administrators and supporters.
