Pedestrian struck and killed on West Hanover Avenue in Morris Plains, police say

MORRIS PLAINS BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — An adult male died after being struck by a vehicle on West Hanover Avenue on Wednesday evening, the Morris Plains Police Department said.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. near Stiles Avenue. Police said the victim was taken to a nearby medical facility, where he later died from his injuries.

A section of West Hanover Avenue was shut down for several hours to allow investigators to process the scene.

The investigation remains active and is being conducted jointly by the Morris Plains Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Morris Plains Police Department Detective Bureau at 973-538-4210 or Morris County Crime Stoppers at 973-COP-CALL.

Authorities said no additional information, including the identity of the victim, is being released until next of kin are notified.
