
Phillipsburg Police Chief Robert Stettner to retire after 25 years of service; James McDonald named interim chief
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) — Phillipsburg has announced the upcoming retirement of Chief of Police Robert Stettner, effective January 1, 2025.
After 25 years of service, including 12 years as Chief, Stettner is stepping down, marking the end of a significant chapter for the Phillipsburg Police Department.
Chief Stettner’s tenure was highlighted by several notable accomplishments, including securing accreditation from the New Jersey Association of Chiefs of Police — a major milestone for both the department and the community. His leadership has been pivotal in shaping the department’s history, and the Town of Phillipsburg extends its gratitude for his contributions to public safety. We wish him well as he transitions to the next phase of his life.
Looking ahead, the Phillipsburg Police Department has announced James McDonald as the interim chief of Police. With 20 years of dedicated service and a proven track record in leadership, McDonald brings a fresh perspective and vision to the department.
