Phillipsburg police seek woman wanted on theft by deception charge

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — Phillipsburg police are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman wanted on a theft by deception charge stemming from a 2022 incident.

Authorities identified the suspect as Fay Ann Anderson, 54, whose current whereabouts are unknown. Police said she may be in the Muskegon County area of Michigan.

According to the Phillipsburg Police Department, Anderson is accused of obtaining money from a victim by creating or reinforcing a false impression that the victim would receive $20,000 in federal funds in exchange for paying a $3,000 processing fee.

Police said the victim paid the fee but never received the promised funds.

Anderson is described as a white female, about 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 135 pounds, with hazel eyes and blonde hair. She is also known to use several aliases, including Fay Ann Metz, Fay Ann Faith, Fay Ann Johnson, Fay Ann Wood and Fay Ann Hildman, according to authorities.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Phillipsburg Police Department at 908-835-2002. Callers may remain anonymous.
