Police investigate reported threat at Morris County high school

BUTLER, N.J. (Morris County) — Butler police investigated a reported threat at Butler High School on Wednesday afternoon and determined the school was safe, allowing classes to resume without incident.

According to the Butler Police Department, officers responded to the high school after receiving a report of a threat.

Police said they worked closely with Superintendent Dr. Johnson, school administrators and the school’s security team to thoroughly investigate the report.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the investigation.

Following the investigation, authorities determined there was no ongoing threat to the school environment.

Police said all classes resumed without incident after the school was deemed safe.

Additional details about the nature of the reported threat were not immediately released.
