Police: Sussex County man arrested for DWI after minor accident on Route 46 in Mount Olive Township

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 60-year-old Sussex County man was arrested last week, for driving while intoxicated (DWI) following a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 46 and Anderson Road in Mount Olive Township, according to police.

On Nov. 22, at around 11:47 p.m., an officer responded to the scene where a Toyota Corolla had struck an Infiniti QX5, causing only minor damage. Upon speaking with the driver of the Toyota, identified as Carl E. Rost Jr, of Hopatcong Borough, the officer allegedly detected the odor of alcohol and observed signs of impairment, police said.

Rost was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. He was charged with DWI, reckless driving, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and failure to maintain lane. Rost was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
