Police: Woman arrested for DWI after calling 911 claiming she was lost and needed assistance

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after allegedly calling 911 claiming she was lost and needed assistance in Denville Township, police said.

On March 8, at around 9:11 p.m., police responded to the area of Paulos Place in response to a 911 call that came in from a female motorist claiming she was lost and needed assistance, police said.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver, who was identified as Jenifer Jerauld, 59, of Morris Plains Borough, police said.

During the investigation, officers learned that Jerauld had allegedly been consuming alcoholic beverages while driving and she was then arrested, police said.

Due to the level of intoxication, Jerauld was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital for further treatment, police said.

Jerauld was charged with driving while under the influence, careless driving, reckless driving, and open containers of alcoholic beverages inside a vehicle. She was turned over to hospital staff and released pending a court appearance, police said.
