Powerball jackpot climbs to $1.3B; 2 tickets in New Jersey win $1M

UPDATE: Hunterdon County player, Jackpocket user each win $1M in Powerball as jackpot climbs

The Powerball® jackpot has surged to an estimated $1.30 billion for Wednesday night’s drawing after no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday’s drawing, lottery officials said.

The jackpot, with an estimated cash value of $589 million, now ranks as the fifth-largest in Powerball history and the ninth-largest among all U.S. lottery games.

The winning numbers drawn Monday were white balls 8, 23, 25, 40, 53 and red Powerball 5. The Power Play® multiplier was 3.

While no jackpot-winning tickets were sold, 10 players nationwide matched all five white balls to win $1 million prizes, including two tickets purchased in New Jersey. Other $1 million winners were in California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Two tickets, sold in Montana and North Carolina, included the Power Play® option, boosting their $1 million prizes to $2 million.

In addition, 124 tickets won $50,000 prizes and 25 tickets won $150,000 prizes.

If a player wins Wednesday’s jackpot, they can choose between the $1.30 billion annuitized prize — paid in an immediate installment followed by 29 annual payments increasing 5% each year — or a lump-sum payment of $589 million. Both options are before taxes.

Wednesday’s drawing will be the 41st since the jackpot was last hit on May 31, when a California ticket won $214.9 million. The record for the longest Powerball run is 42 consecutive drawings, set in 2024.

Powerball tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. ET on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and are broadcast live from Tallahassee, Fla., and streamed on Powerball.com.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
