Powerball jackpot climbs to $750M, 10th largest in game’s history

The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $750 million after no ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s drawing, making it the game’s 10th largest prize ever.

The winning numbers drawn Saturday were 11, 14, 34, 47, 51 and the red Powerball 18. The Power Play multiplier was 2.

Although no one hit the jackpot, two tickets sold in Maine and New York matched all five white balls to win $1 million each. A third ticket sold in South Dakota also matched all five white balls, but because it included the $1 Power Play option, the prize doubled to $2 million.

In addition, 31 tickets won $50,000 prizes and five tickets won $100,000 prizes in Saturday’s drawing, according to lottery officials.

The next chance to play for the growing jackpot will be Monday night. If a player wins, they can choose between the annuitized prize of $750 million, paid in 30 installments over 29 years, or a lump sum cash value of $338.6 million. Both options are before taxes.

Monday’s drawing will mark the 37th since the jackpot was last won on May 31 in California.

Powerball tickets are $2 and sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game has helped generate more than $36 billion for public programs and causes since its launch in 1992.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET and are broadcast live from Tallahassee, Florida. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9, while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
