Raritan Township adopts 2025 budget, prioritizes roads and parks

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Raritan Township Committee has adopted the township’s 2025 budget, emphasizing fiscal responsibility and strategic investments in local infrastructure and recreational spaces.

The adopted fiscal year 2025 budget is centered on two primary goals: maintaining a strong financial position through sound fiscal management, and investing in key capital improvements.

Officials said the budget maximizes the impact of taxpayers’ dollars by securing alternate revenue sources, including grants, shared service agreements, and PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) programs.

The budget allocates $2.7 million for road repairs and maintenance, and includes funding to upgrade township parks — with new playground equipment planned for Mine Brook and Blackwell parks.

A significant portion of the budget supports township operations, including salaries, wages, and funding for public safety services such as fire and rescue, and the Department of Public Works. Officials noted the spending plan allows the township to continue prioritizing road projects and support long-term financial planning.
