Raritan Township seeks volunteers for new recreation advisory committee

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Raritan Township is seeking residents to serve on a newly established Recreation Advisory Committee aimed at enhancing community programs and local amenities.

The committee was created following the passage of Ordinance 26-10 on March 17 and is intended to support, expand and improve the township’s recreational offerings and public spaces.

Township officials said the committee will give residents an opportunity to share ideas, collaborate with municipal leaders and help shape the future of parks, events and recreational programs.

Mayor Bradford Perry welcomed the formation of the committee, stating,

“The establishment of the Recreation Advisory Committee marks an exciting step for our community. A committee with a passion for and dedication to enhance our parks, open spaces, and the various sporting activities that make Raritan Township a wonderful place to live.”

“Our goal is to foster a greater sense of community through new events and improved programs for everyone,” Mayor Perry continued. “To make this vision a reality, we are looking for dedicated public members to join the committee. This is a unique opportunity for residents to have a direct voice in identifying park improvements and shaping the future of our local recreation. We encourage anyone with a passion for our town to volunteer and help us build a more vibrant and connected Raritan Township.”

Raritan Township currently offers a range of recreational amenities, including parks, open space and sports facilities, along with annual events such as the summer intersession program, Community Day and a holiday lights celebration.

Officials said the new committee will build on those offerings by exploring new programs, improving existing activities and providing a direct channel for community input on recreational priorities.

Residents interested in volunteering or learning more can contact the township clerk’s office at 908-806-6101 or by email at clerk@raritantwpnj.gov.
