Rockstars: Special needs cheer team in Morris County seeking athletes

FLANDERS, NJ (Morris County) – A special needs cheer team in Morris County is seeking athletes.

Northern Elite Rockstars, which is part of Northern Elite Gymnastics and Cheer in Flanders, is a competitive all-star cheerleading team for exceptional athletes with special needs.

Since Northern Elite’s opening in 2008, its focus has been “training Champions for Life.”

Three years ago, Rockstars was created to honor former owner, Noreen Cacchione, who passed away before being able to see this vision come to life. The formation of Rockstars has allowed Northern Elite to bring their philosophy of “training Champions for Life” to exceptional athletes with special needs.

Noreen believed that all athletes were ROCKSTARS and carrying on that mission is an honor.

“We are so happy to have found Northern Elite and the Rockstars! This is our daughter’s third year with the team and she absolutely loves it. The coaches are encouraging and supportive, and gently push each athlete to their individual potential. Our daughter has gained confidence, new skills, and friendships along the way. Come give it a try!,” said Rockstar parent Elizabeth Spencer.

“Our daughter absolutely LOVES her cheer team. The amount of increased confidence, strength and independence since joining Northern Elite’s Rockstars Cheer Abilities team is unmeasurable. We cannot thank the coaches and gym enough for all their hard work and dedication to the special needs athletes. Such a special time for our daughter. Something she looks forward to every week,” Rockstar parent Amy Marini.

“The Cheer Abilities program at Northern Elite has given my athlete a new level of confidence. She loves everything about it,” said Rockstar parent Ann Fisher.

Rockstars practices every Wednesday in July and August (continuing into the fall and winter) and all special needs athletes are invited to join during these open practices.
