Route 15 northbound overnight lane shifts begin Wednesday for priority repairs to I-80 bridges over Route 15 in Wharton Borough

Overnight work is expected to take approximately two weeks

WHARTON BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – Route 15 northbound is scheduled to have overnight traffic shifts beginning on Wednesday, April 9, for priority repairs to the I-80 Bridges over Route 15 in Wharton Borough.

Starting at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, until 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, and continuing Monday through Friday nights at the same time for approximately two weeks, Route 15 northbound traffic will be shifted before the I-80 Bridges over Route 15.

The shift is necessary to repair bridge joints and address concrete spalling. All lanes will be maintained during construction. Work may also take place on Saturday and Sunday nights, if necessary, due to weather or other factors. Route 15 southbound will not be affected.

Motorists are advised to use caution and slow down while traveling through the work zone.

The I-80 Bridges over Route 15 remain safe. The deterioration of the concrete cover on the bridge piers is a result of natural aging and is not related to the ongoing I-80 sinkhole repairs.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has created an I-80 project webpage to keep the public informed about the progress of repairs. The page includes information on detours, alternate routes, and other options to minimize traffic congestion in the area. Additionally, a new I-80 travel time page has been added to www.511NJ.org, providing current travel times for detour and alternate routes.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website at www.511NJ.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
