Route 15 northbound ramp in Wharton Borough to close Friday night for bridge repairs

WHARTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — The Route 15 northbound ramp from North Main Street in Wharton is scheduled to close Friday night as crews make concrete repairs to a bridge, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The ramp closure is set to begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue until 6 a.m. Saturday. During the same time, the right and center lanes on Route 15 southbound will also be closed between mileposts 2.5 and 2.3.

NJDOT said the closures are necessary to make concrete deck repairs on the Route 15 southbound bridge over the ramp to Route 15 northbound.

Motorists traveling on North Main Street who wish to access Route 15 northbound will be detoured by continuing on North Main Street, turning right onto Route 15 southbound, then following signs to Interstate 80 eastbound toward New York City. Drivers will take Exit 35 to Mount Hope/Dover, turn left onto Mount Hope Avenue (County Route 661), then take the ramp to I-80 westbound and Exit 34B to Route 15 northbound toward Jefferson and Sparta.

Drivers are advised to slow down, use caution and expect delays in the work zone.

The project is part of a $12.2 million state-funded maintenance contract to repair concrete structures at various locations across Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.

NJDOT noted that the schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists can check www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
