Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office seek June fugitive of the month

SOMERVILLE, N.J. (Somerset County) — The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office has named a Bridgewater man its Fugitive of the Month for June and is seeking the public’s help locating him.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Charles J. Kersting, 36, whose last known address was in Bridgewater Township, is wanted by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Unit.

Authorities said Kersting is wanted for multiple failures to appear in court, including a recovery court violation of probation related to a third-degree controlled dangerous substance possession charge stemming from a January 2018 incident in Warren Township.

He is also wanted in connection with charges of third-degree eluding and fourth-degree obstruction from an April 2018 incident in Warren Township, as well as failure to appear on charges of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and fourth-degree possession of a device used to defraud the administration of a drug test stemming from an August 2024 incident in Somerville.

The prosecutor’s office describes Kersting as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Kersting’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Unit at 908-231-7100, through the STOPit app using access code SOMERSETNJ, or through the Somerset County Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-888-577-TIPS (8477).

Authorities advised the public not to take any police action themselves and said all anonymous tips will be kept confidential.
