Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office to host author Matthew Bocchi for presentation on recovery, resilience

MANVILLE BOROUGH, N.J. (Somerset County) — The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, in partnership with the Somerset County Department of Human Services, will host author and speaker Matthew Bocchi for a free community presentation on addiction, mental health, recovery and resilience.

The presentation, “Overcome: The Matthew Bocchi Story,” will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Manville Public Library, 100 S. 10th Ave.

Bocchi is a nationally recognized speaker, author and advocate for opioid awareness and recovery. His best-selling memoir, “Sway,” tells his story of losing his father in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and his subsequent struggles with addiction and trauma.

During the presentation, Bocchi will discuss the loss of his father, his battles with addiction and his path toward recovery and healing.

Bocchi also speaks about his experiences with mental health challenges, including depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, and uses his personal story to encourage others to seek support while helping reduce the stigma surrounding addiction and mental health.

His journey has been featured in documentaries and television appearances, including Fox News Digital Originals and History’s “9/11: The Legacy.”

The presentation is free and open to the public.
