Steampunk Alchemy Fest returning to Vasa Park in June
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Steampunk Alchemy Fest will return to Vasa Park in Budd Lake on Saturday, June 6, bringing a full day of retro-futuristic entertainment, live performances, artisan vendors and interactive attractions.
The outdoor festival, themed around Victorian-era industrial aesthetics mixed with modern creativity, will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Vasa Park on Vasa Drive in Mount Olive Township, with evening events and camping activities continuing afterward.
Organizers said the festival is designed to provide a family-friendly experience during the daytime while celebrating art, music, invention and community.
Entertainment will include live musical performances by A Halo Called Fred, Dust Bowl Faeries, This Way to the Egress and New Jersey Early Music.
Festivalgoers will also be able to watch sideshow performances, whip demonstrations and armored combat exhibitions by The Kingdom of Acre medieval recreation group.
Other attractions include Tea Dueling competitions, storytelling, workshops, antique invention displays through the Museum of Interesting Things and a marketplace featuring handmade goods, leatherwork, up-cycled creations and fantasy-themed art.
During the evening, the event will transition into an adults-only cabaret featuring music, burlesque, comedy and DJ dance parties. On-site camping and campfires also will be available for attendees staying overnight.
“We are more than just a festival; we are a cultural organization expanding the definition of art and music,” said Peter Basinski, event coordinator and Vasa Park board member. “Everything is built around the idea that alchemy suggests magic—and when you bring this smart, creative community together, magic is exactly what happens.”
Organizers described the festival as an immersive “Steampunk Summer Camp” experience aimed at art enthusiasts, families and fans of alternative culture.
