Sussex County Community College Foundation raises record $100K at annual Funding Their Future event

ANDOVER, N.J. (Sussex County) — The Sussex County Community College Foundation celebrated its most successful Funding Their Future event to date, raising $100,200 during the annual fundraiser held Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Perona Farms.

With 200 guests in attendance, the evening honored Al Dorso, president of Skylands Stadium, which began hosting the Sussex Skylanders this fall to give student-athletes the chance to compete in a professional sports setting.

“Our Funding Their Future event is always a wonderful opportunity to highlight our students and celebrate our generous supporters and partners. It is through benefactors and community partnerships that SCCC continues to grow and succeed in achieving our mission and providing a quality education for SCCC students. Together, we are making a difference!” said Stan Kula, executive director of the SCCC Foundation.

The cocktail reception featured dishes prepared by SCCC culinary students and local chefs who serve on the advisory board for the college’s Culinary Arts Program. Guests enjoyed live entertainment from “Meant to Be” and participated in a silent auction marking the start of the Foundation’s fundraising year.

“Each year, your generosity enables us to open doors, expand opportunities, and shape the future of our students. On behalf of our students, faculty, and staff, thank you for believing in the mission of Sussex County Community College. With your help, we are building momentum, expanding opportunity, and shaping a better tomorrow,” said Dr. Cory Homer, president of Sussex County Community College.

Proceeds from the Funding Their Future event support student scholarships and key college programs. Currently, 74% of SCCC students rely on financial aid to pursue their education.
