Sussex County Community College receives Business Advocacy Award from Economic Development Partnership

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Sussex County Community College was honored with the Business Advocacy Award by the Sussex County Economic Development Partnership during the organization’s 20th Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, Nov. 14, at the North Shore House in Newton.

The award recognizes the college’s commitment to supporting local employers and strengthening the county’s economic landscape.

This recognition “highlights SCCC’s ongoing commitment to fueling the regional economy through workforce development, academic-to-career pipelines, partnerships with local employers, and training programs that strengthen key industries across Sussex County,” the college said in a statement. As the county’s primary higher-education institution, SCCC serves a central role in preparing skilled workers, supporting business expansion and responding to evolving labor market needs.

The Sussex County Economic Development Partnership works to promote sustainable economic development by attracting and retaining industry, identifying strategic opportunities and encouraging collaboration among businesses, municipalities and community partners.

The Business Advocacy Award is given annually to an organization or individual that demonstrates exceptional support for the local business community through consultation, site-location assistance, workforce training, business programming, financing or efforts that advance business startups, retention, expansion or capital investment. SCCC was honored for its leadership in creating training pathways, developing industry-aligned academic programs and supporting both employers and job seekers across the region.

Sussex County Community College said it remains committed to strengthening the area’s economic vitality through education, workforce readiness and partnerships that bolster the local business community.
