Sussex County courts to close at 11 a.m. Nov. 19 for planned security drill

SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. — The Sussex County Judicial Center and all Superior Court facilities in Sussex County will close to the public at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, for a planned security drill, court officials announced.

Beginning at 10 a.m., anyone seeking a domestic violence temporary restraining order may apply at the Newton Police Department or their local police department. Court staff will remain available by phone from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 862-397-5700.

Emergent matters will be heard before 11 a.m. or virtually after 1:30 p.m., officials said.

Anyone seeking to file an emergent Order to Show Cause in the Civil, Chancery, Family, or Criminal Divisions after 11 a.m. may do so through the Judiciary Electronic Filing System (JEDS), available at www.njcourts.gov, or by calling 862-397-5700 for additional guidance.

Normal court operations are expected to resume the following business day.
