Sussex County launches donation drive to support veterans through clothing closet program

SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. — Sussex County health and senior services officials are asking residents to show their support for local veterans by donating personal care and household items as part of a countywide collection effort benefiting veterans in need.

The donation drive, sponsored by the Sussex County Division of Health in partnership with the Division of Senior Services, will provide supplies to the Veteran Clothing Closet operated through the Partnership for Social Services. Officials said the effort is aimed at offering comfort, dignity and practical assistance to veterans throughout the county.

Organizers are seeking a range of items, including hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant and shaving supplies, as well as household essentials like towels, blankets, twin sheets and socks. Additional requested items include greeting cards, nonperishable food, healthy snacks, light bulbs, postage stamps, pillows and gift cards.

All donations must be dropped off by Feb. 11, 2026. Collection sites include the Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services at One Spring Street in Newton and the Office of Public Health Nursing at 201 Wheatsworth Road in Hamburg.

County officials said all donated items will directly benefit veterans served through the clothing closet program, which supports those facing financial hardship or housing insecurity.

Residents with questions about the donation drive can contact organizers at 973-579-0570.
