
Sussex County man sentenced for violating recovery court probation terms
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man has been sentenced after violating the terms of his recovery court probation, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray.
Steven Kristiansen, 55, of Byram Township was sentenced on Nov. 8 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Murray said.
Kristiansen was sentenced to serve thirteen years in state prison with a six-and-a-half-year period of parole ineligibility, with a credit for 1414 days jail already served, Murray said.
The court ordered that this state prison sentence be served consecutively to the federal prison term Kristiansen is currently serving. He was sentenced on Sept. 20 to 146 months in prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking organization distributing methamphetamine.
Kristiansen had previously been sentenced to recovery court probation on multiple counts of third-degree burglary and theft in 2020 and 2021. He pled guilty to violating the terms of his recovery court probation on Nov. 3, 2023, Murray said.
Kristiansen was represented by Thomas F. Militano, Esq. and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General/Acting Assistant Prosecutor Jerome Neidhardt.
