Sussex County man sentenced on drug, firearm charges

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County)- A Sussex County man was sentenced on drug and firearm charges, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray.

Matthew Knorr, 27, of Fredon Township was sentenced on Aug. 23 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Murray said.

Knorr was sentenced to eight years state prison with a 42-month period of parole ineligibility with a credit for 245 days jail already served. He must submit a DNA sample and pay $2,330 in mandatory fees and penalties, Murray said.

Knorr pled guilty to second-degree possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute that cocaine and second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm, Murray said.

These charges arose from an investigation in November and December of 2023 by the Sussex County Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force along with New Jersey State Police.

Knorr was represented by Edward Bilinkas, Esq. and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General/Acting Assistant Prosecutor Jerome Neidhardt.
