Man accused of brandishing handgun during altercation in Warren County
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man is accused of brandishing a handgun during an altercation in Franklin Township Tuesday night, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.
On Aug. 27, at around 9:33 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a person brandishing a weapon at the intersection of Route 57 and Halfway House Road in Franklin Township, Lebron said.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that Matthew Decker, 30, of Washington was involved in a verbal altercation with another individual, brandished a handgun, and fled the scene, Lebron said.
Through investigative means, Decker was located on Route 31 in Hampton Borough, Hunterdon County, Lebron said.
Decker was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of weapons for unlawful purposes, transportation of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was then lodged at Warren County Correctional Facility, Lebron said,
The incident remains under investigation, Lebron said.
