Sussex County sheriff announces retirement of Cpl. Brian Snyder after 25 years

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Sussex County Sheriff Michael Strada announced the retirement of Corporal Brian Snyder following 25 years of service with the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office.

Snyder was hired in June 2000 as a corrections officer after graduating from the Passaic County Police Academy. In September 2021, he transferred to the Bureau of Law Enforcement, where he continued his career with the Sheriff’s Office.

During his tenure, Snyder was assigned to the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program, which works with nonprofit organizations across Sussex County and individuals sentenced by a judge to participate in the program. The initiative has played a key role in supporting community organizations throughout the county.

Snyder received the Sheriff’s Achievement Award in March 2008 and the Good Conduct Award in September 2017. He was also awarded the Grand CORDON Award for his service during the COVID-19 pandemic and received numerous letters of appreciation from members of the public for his work in the Labor Assistance Program.

Sheriff Strada congratulated Snyder on his retirement and thanked him for his dedication and service to the county, wishing him well in his future endeavors.
