RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) — Heron Glen Golf Course has been named the No. 1 public golf course in New Jersey in the Golfers’ Choice 2026 rankings released by GolfPass, county officials announced.

The annual rankings highlight top golf courses across the United States based on thousands of reviews and ratings submitted by golfers.

Hunterdon County Commissioner Director John E. Lanza said the recognition reflects the work of the staff who operate and maintain the county-owned course.

“Being named the number one public golf course in New Jersey is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the outstanding work of the entire Heron Glen team,” said Commissioner Director Lanza. “Heron Glen is not only a tremendous recreational asset for our residents, but it is also an important destination that brings visitors to Hunterdon County and supports our local tourism economy.”

Officials said the recognition highlights the work of staff across several areas of operations, including golf course maintenance, guest services, food and beverage operations and administrative support.

Heron Glen is operated through a partnership between Hunterdon County and KemperSports, a relationship that has lasted nearly 24 years. County officials said the collaboration has helped the course evolve while maintaining a strong reputation among golfers throughout New Jersey and the region.
