Tewksbury Township police chief announces retirement

TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Tewksbury Township Police Chief Tim Barlow has announced that he plans to retire from the department on April 1.

“It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve this community for over three decades, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had during my time here, Barlow said.

His journey in law enforcement has been diverse and fulfilling, beginning with his role as a probation officer in Morris County.

He then joined the Tewksbury Township Police Department in 1993 which marked the beginning of an extraordinary chapter in his life.

“My career with the Tewksbury Township Police Department has been one of constant growth both personally and professionally,” Barlow said.

“Throughout my tenure, I have witnessed the evolution of policing and the challenges it brings. Yet, what has remained constant is the unwavering dedication of our officers and the support of our community. The members of the Tewksbury Township Police Department work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of every resident,” Barlow said.

He has had the privilege of engaging with members of the community in various capacities, whether through educational programs like D.A.R.E., community events such as Night Out and the Junior Police Academy, collaborative initiatives with local schools, or partnerships with volunteer fire and rescue organizations.

“These connections have been the cornerstone of our community policing efforts, and I am immensely proud of the strong relationships we have cultivated over the years. Additionally, I have been afforded the opportunity to forge strong partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies to address the diverse needs of our township,” Barlow said.

“I am forever grateful for the unwavering support of my wife and our two sons throughout my career. While the demands of police work often required sacrifices, their love and understanding have been a constant source of strength and encouragement for me,” Barlow said.

“To my colleagues at the Tewksbury Township Police Department, past and present, thank you for your dedication, camaraderie, and tireless commitment to public service. Together, we’ve navigated through moments of triumph and tragedy, always striving to uphold the values of integrity, compassion, and excellence,” Barlow said.

“As I embark on the next chapter of my life, I leave knowing that the Tewksbury Township Police Department is in capable hands. I am confident that my colleagues will continue to deliver the excellence of service that define our department,’ Barlow said.

“To the residents of Tewksbury Township, thank you for the privilege of serving as your Chief of Police. It has been an honor to work alongside you in service to our community, and I look forward to witnessing the continued progress and prosperity of Tewksbury Township in the years to come,” Barlow said.
