Thousands without power after storms in Northwest New Jersey

NORTHWEST, NJ – Several thousands are without power in Northwest New Jersey following severe weather.

Thunderstorms rolled through the area Wednesday evening, leaving over 62,000 people without power in New Jersey, according to Jersey Central Power and Light’s (JCP&L) outage map.

Here’s a snapshot of the power outages in Northwest New Jersey from Thursday morning:

  • Hunterdon County: 4,242
  • Morris County: 20,203
  • Somerset County: 4,581
  • Sussex County: 7,292
  • Warren County: 6,910

“Severe weather is causing power outages. Estimated restoration time will be provided when available,” officials said.

“We do have contract resources already on-site,” JCP&L spokesman Chris Hoenig told RNJ.

More information will be available later this morning, Hoenig said.
