Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Sussex County

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — An Andover woman was arrested after a traffic stop in Newton led to the discovery of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia and open containers of alcohol, police said.

According to police, an officer stopped a vehicle at approximately 9:45 p.m. June 1 after observing an expired registration and the driver failing to signal while turning.

Police said a subsequent investigation found that the driver, Taylor Mueller, 31, of Andover, was in possession of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia and multiple open containers of alcohol.

Mueller was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was also issued motor vehicle summonses for expired registration, failure to signal and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Mueller was processed and released on a complaint summons pending a court appearance.
