Truck driver injured in crash involving tractor-trailer on I-78 in Somerset County

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — A tractor-trailer driver was injured Saturday morning in a crash on Interstate 78 in Somerset County, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded at about 10:23 a.m. to a motor vehicle crash on I-78 westbound near milepost 32.4 in Bernards Township, said Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a New Jersey State Police spokesman.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a collision occurred between a Toyota sedan and a Freightliner tractor-trailer. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to veer off the roadway to the left and strike a guardrail.

The driver of the Freightliner sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available.
