TSA launches One Stop Security pilot to ease international connections in U.S.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Transportation Security Administration has launched a new pilot program that will allow some international travelers connecting through U.S. airports to skip TSA rescreening, officials announced.

The One Stop Security initiative, authorized by Congress, began in July with two participating flights from London’s Heathrow Airport. American Airlines’ flight connects to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, while Delta Air Lines’ flight connects to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

“One Stop Security is TSA’s latest common-sense approach to streamlining the passenger journey while also bolstering aviation security,” said TSA Acting Deputy Administrator Adam Stahl. “International air travel can often be a challenging and time-consuming process. It’s our goal to simplify this experience while maintaining the highest levels of security.”

The program, developed in coordination with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the United Kingdom, exempts eligible passengers and baggage from secondary TSA screening if they arrive from airports that meet security standards considered commensurate with U.S. requirements.

TSA said the program is expected to improve passenger experience, reduce costs and strengthen aviation security. Passengers from participating airports will be able to proceed directly to their connecting terminals after clearing CBP inspections, with their checked baggage automatically transferred to their next flights without rescreening.

The pilot is part of a broader set of TSA initiatives aimed at improving travel. Past efforts include the “Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease” campaign recognizing military families and “Families on the Fly,” which provides dedicated lanes at select airports and discounted PreCheck fees for families.
