New Jersey Lottery prepares for Mega Millions game changes

Advance sales have smaller window ahead of revised game launch April 5

NEW JERSEY – The New Jersey Lottery will begin the process Tuesday of limiting advance play Mega Millions tickets in preparation for the April 5 game re-launch.

March 11 will mark the last day New Jersey players can purchase tickets for up to eight future drawings, with the final drawing taking place on Friday, April 4.

After the March 11 drawing, each subsequent drawing will allow for one fewer advance purchase, leading up to April 4.

Starting Saturday, April 5, tickets for the following Tuesday will cost $5 per play, an increase from the current $2 per play. At that point, the option to purchase the maximum of eight future drawings will resume in full. Additionally, among several features, the revised game will offer faster-growing and bigger jackpots.
