TSA offers $20 discount on PreCheck memberships for travelers under 30 in May
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Transportation Security Administration is offering a limited-time discount on TSA PreCheck memberships for younger travelers as the busy summer travel season approaches.
From May 1 through May 31, first-time applicants age 30 and under can receive $20 off a new five-year TSA PreCheck membership through the agency’s “$20 Take Off” promotion.
The discount is available through TSA PreCheck’s authorized enrollment providers — CLEAR, IDEMIA and Telos — at more than 1,300 enrollment locations nationwide, including retail sites outside of airports. With the promotion, enrollment costs range from about $56.75 to $65, depending on the provider.
“As young adults embark on new adventures – whether it’s travel for school, work, or fun – TSA PreCheck offers a quicker and smoother airport security experience,” said TSA Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill. “With this special discount, we’re empowering the next generation of travelers to make TSA PreCheck a part of their journey.”
TSA PreCheck allows enrolled passengers to move through airport security more quickly, with most waiting less than 10 minutes, according to the agency. Travelers can keep electronics and liquids in their bags and do not need to remove belts or light jackets.
The program also offers Touchless ID at select airports, allowing for faster identity verification, and children traveling with enrolled parents can use TSA PreCheck lanes at no additional cost.
Applicants can begin the process online and complete enrollment in person. Most travelers receive their Known Traveler Number within three to five days.
Officials remind travelers to use only official TSA PreCheck websites ending in “.gov” when applying.
