Two men charged after road rage incident turns physical in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Two motorists were arrested after a road rage incident escalated into a physical altercation in Clinton Township, authorities said on Monday.

Clinton Township police responded Dec. 16 to a report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 31 and Regional Road. During the investigation, officers determined that the male drivers of two vehicles had been involved in a road rage dispute that led to a physical confrontation, police said.

Daniel J. Roman, 50, of Califon, and Patricio M. Varela, 52, of Annandale, were charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct in connection with the incident, authorities said.

Both men were processed and released pending future court appearances in Clinton Township Municipal Court.
