Congressman Kean honored as Congressional Fire Services Institute Legislator of the Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) Wednesday presented Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) a Legislator of the Year 2024 Award for his work on behalf of the fire and emergency services, including his work last year to pass his bill into law that reauthorized programs which provide equipment, fire trucks, and other resources for firefighters.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Congressional Fire Services Institute as Legislator of the Year,” said Kean. “Firefighters and EMS personnel across the country face danger and uncertainty every day to protect their communities. As a former volunteer firefighter, I understand the challenges and sacrifices these heroes make in order to respond swiftly to emergencies. I’m proud that my bill, the Fire Grants and Safety Act of 2024, is now law, providing critical support to firefighters nationwide. I look forward to continuing my work with CFSI to ensure we keep helping those who protect us.”

“The Congressional Fire Services Institute thanks Congressman Kean for his work to support America’s fire and emergency services,” said Bill Webb, CFSI Executive Director. “The Fire Grants and Safety Act has helped to ensure the continuity of vital fire service grant programs and the U.S. Fire Administration, which support fire and EMS personnel across the country.”
