UPDATE: Hunterdon County Transfer Station closed until further notice after fire

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Due to damage sustained from a fire on April 23, the Hunterdon County Transfer Station located at 11 Petticoat Lane in Clinton Township is closed to residents and haulers until further notice, according to officials.

The fire, which broke out at around 4:42 p.m. at the Hunterdon County Transfer Center, was quickly extinguished. Upon arrival, patrol officers found the compactor transfer station building fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported, police said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire began when an employee, while moving garbage debris, noticed a small flame within a debris pile at approximately 4:35 p.m., notified their supervisor, and called 9-1-1, police said.

The fire remains under investigation by the Clinton Township Police Department and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.

Fire departments from various agencies, including Annandale Hose Company, Clinton Fire Department, and several others, responded to the scene.
