Wakefern launches patriotic Bowl & Basket packaging to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary
NEW JERSEY — Wakefern Food Corp. is marking America’s 250th anniversary with limited-edition patriotic packaging on 30 of its Bowl & Basket private-label products, along with special promotional offers at several of its supermarket banners.
The Star-Spangled Own Brands initiative features red, white and blue fireworks-themed packaging on a selection of Bowl & Basket grocery, dairy and frozen products available at ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage, Fairway Market and Morton Williams stores.
The limited-edition packaging is now available while supplies last and is designed to add a patriotic touch to summer gatherings, barbecues and holiday celebrations.
“Since Wakefern was founded in 1946, our cooperative has been built on the strength of independent, family-owned supermarket businesses with deep roots in the communities they serve,” said Wakefern Chief Sales Officer Darren Caudill. “As the nation celebrates its 250th birthday, this limited-edition Bowl & Basket™ packaging is a meaningful way to honor that proud American story and help our customers celebrate with family and friends all summer long.”
The specially packaged products include a variety of grocery items such as toasted rice cereal, donut shop coffee K-Cups, wavy potato chips, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cones, marshmallows, maraschino cherries, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, hot dog and hamburger rolls, seltzer and spring water.
Seasonal treats include patriotic chocolate drizzle popcorn and red, white and blue chocolate-covered star pretzels.
The dairy and frozen lineup includes ice cream sandwiches, vanilla ice cream bars, vanilla bean, cookies and cream and mint chocolate chip ice cream, whipped toppings, cheese slices and breakfast sandwiches.
In addition to the patriotic packaging, Wakefern is offering promotional rewards at ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer and Fairway Market.
Customers who purchase qualifying products from The Coca-Cola Company, The Hershey Company, Kimberly-Clark, Kraft Heinz and Mondelez International can earn a store gift card, limited to one per customer.
The offers include:
- A $75 ShopRite gift card with a qualifying $250 purchase through July 4.
- A $75 The Fresh Grocer gift card with a qualifying $250 purchase through July 2.
- A $50 Fairway Market gift card with a qualifying $150 purchase through July 2.
Wakefern said the special-edition packaging and promotional offers are intended to help customers celebrate America’s 250th anniversary throughout the summer season.
