Warren County man charged with endangering the welfare of a child

STEWARTSVILLE, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man has charged with endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Wednesday, April 24, following an investigation that spanned several months, Joseph Fortugno, 33, of Stewartsville was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child for possessing and intending to distribute images that depict child sexual abuse, officials said.

The investigation began after law enforcement received notice that several images of a young child posing in a sexual manner were uploaded online, authorities said.

Through various investigative means, detectives were able to link the source of the uploads to Fortugno’s residence. In addition, law enforcement also uncovered that the suspect intended to send the images to others online, the prosecutor’s office said.

The second-degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, and third-degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of 5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
