Warren County proclaims April Sexual Assault Awareness Month, honors DASACC
WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — The Warren County Board of County Commissioners has proclaimed April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, recognizing the work of the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Awareness Crisis Center of Warren County.
Representatives from DASACC accepted the proclamation during an April 8 meeting, highlighting ongoing efforts to raise awareness and prevent sexual violence in the community.
Officials noted that sexual assault is considered one of the most underreported crimes and affects individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of age, gender, race or income.
Data from DASACC indicates that most cases involve individuals known to the survivor, with about 40% involving a former intimate partner, 17% a family or household member, 9% an acquaintance and approximately 3% a stranger.
“We are proud to partner with DASACC and to support your mission,” Commissioner Director Lori Ciesla stated, adding “Your work not only changes lives, but it saves lives.”
Commissioner James R. Kern III also acknowledged the organization’s impact, saying, “Your advocacy, your compassion, and your unwavering dedication provide a lifeline to individuals and families facing unimaginable challenges.”
Commissioner Jason J. Sarnoski praised DASACC’s volunteers, stating, “All the volunteers at DASACC do a great job. Through counseling, crisis intervention, and community outreach, you are helping to build a safer, more aware Warren County.”
