WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — The Warren County Sheriff’s Office plans to launch a program providing eligible senior citizens with free identification wristbands designed to help first responders access important information during an emergency.
Sheriff James McDonald announced the upcoming program, which will provide participating seniors with black-and-gold silicone wristbands engraved with the Warren County 911 Center’s phone number and a unique registration number.
The registration number will be linked to information maintained by the Sheriff’s Office, including the participant’s name, address, phone number, emergency contacts and physician information.
If a participating senior is unable to communicate during an emergency, police officers, firefighters or emergency medical personnel will be able to call the number printed on the wristband and provide the registration number to obtain information that can help identify the person and contact family members or other emergency contacts.
The Sheriff’s Office said the program is intended to help first responders more quickly identify seniors and provide assistance when a person cannot communicate on their own.
The Sheriff’s Office is also accepting donations to help support the program and provide wristbands to participating seniors.
