Weekday lane restrictions set for New Hope-Lambertville bridge starting Nov. 17

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Temporary weekday lane restrictions will be in place on the New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge beginning Monday, Nov. 17, as contractors perform maintenance work beneath the bridge, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced.

Flagger-controlled alternating single-lane travel will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday next week, and if necessary, on Nov. 24 and 25.

Motorists traveling between the New Hope and Lambertville commercial districts may experience short delays during the work hours. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds, follow flagger instructions, and exercise caution while crews are present on the bridge’s travel lanes.

According to the Commission, the restrictions are necessary to allow a contractor to install steel panels beneath the bridge’s roadway deck. Once in place, the panels will serve as a work platform for electricians replacing short-circuiting electrical junction boxes at multiple locations across the bridge.

Weather permitting, the steel panel installations are expected to be completed before Thanksgiving weekend. The replacement of electrical components is scheduled to begin Dec. 2 and will be conducted from the temporary work platform, without affecting two-way traffic.

Alternating lane restrictions will return at a later date when the temporary platform and its supporting cables are removed, officials said.
